Why in the world would the Dr. Cafe coffee shop chain in Saudi Arabia prohibit photography? High speed Wi Fi is available, but no photography?

maybe people don't like to have their pictures taken, esp. if it is a socially conservative country. perhaps women don't want to have their pictures taken.
boyd, i was talking about foreigners taking pictures of the muslims. you could take pics of men, and foreign women can take pics of the women. i wasn't talking of peeping toms.
most folks take pictures of people, except for americans, who like to take pictures of non-people. if you go around the cafe photographing anything other than people, like cups and spoons and tables and computers, people will think you're a creepy spy.

Good thinking. However, men and women are segregated. A wall separates the sections. Very hard to jump over that wall and take photos...

You are right that some Muslims feel photography is "wrong" - apparently this is the case. But why ban all photography?
